Peony is a very popular seasonal product, the large flowers in all kinds of colours and shapes can be harvest in spring. By planting early and late varieties growers can extend their season, also harvest can be earlier by using plastic tunnels or rolling greenhouses to let the plant flower earlier. Growing Peonies in a normal greenhouse is difficult, the plants need a cold period in the winter and this is mostly the problem in greenhouse. Peonies flower the best if they had about 50 nights below 5°C.

By planting in more southern areas such as France, the start of the season can be very early which is interesting. The majority of the production is on the market the first period of june, a lot of the bigger Dutch growers than bring there production to one of the Flower Auctions. Almost 50% of the market is still dominated by the cultivar ‘Sarah Bernardt’ a late variety with a good production and large flowers.

Our rosehips has become a popular product, in the early 90's Kolster BV launched the Fantasy rosehip series, which became a popular branch for cuttings at the market. Most Fantasy rosehips were thornless and had the advantage of harvesting them for a long time. As for the thornless Rosa Sensational Fantasy and Amazing Fantasy there is still a big market for these varieties nowadays.

At a later stage, Kolster BV introduced the Magical rosehip series. Our Magical rosehips are also mostly thornless and less sensitive to diseases and can be harvested every year. By choosing our varieties correctly one can spread the harvest over more than 4 months! Offcourse Kolster BV can help you with choosing the right varieties.

Also we have 3 varieties which can be harvested as blackberries: Rosa Magical Gold, Rosa Magical Bullet and Rosa Magical Pearls. These rosehips need to be planted on poles, just like the blackberry. The side-branches then will be harvested.

In our breeding programn of Magical Phlox health is a very important item. Our Phlox range is less susceptible to mildew, some selections appear even resistant.

Magical BlusZ, Magical InnocenZ, Magical SenZ

The production of our Magical Phlox is excellent, as well as the vase life. The colour range will be expanded regularly, the range is suitable for cutflower as well as for pot plant purposes.

Eryngium is getting more and more important in our “Magical” breeding. Next to the visual attractiveness, health, vase life and production are the main items in our breeding.

The Magical Eryngium are characterized by special shapes and colours, the vase life is excellent.

Compared to other Eryngium varieties the Magical Eryngium varieties are very strong and healthy.

The Magical Symphoricarpos (Snowberry) is still growing in popularity as a seasonal product. The Magical series of the Symphoricarpos (Snowberries) are of excellent quality, new varieties are introduced, resulting in strong berries and straight growing numerous branches. Offcourse harvest still needs to take place at the right time.

Also our 'older' varieties are still popular nowadays, prices are still stable at the auctions. At this moment we have Symphoricarpos varieties in white, green and pink colours, some of these Symphoricarpos are also two-coloured. In the near future we expect to introduce some new green and red Symphoricarpos. Also we are looking at possibilities to extand the harvest period.

Hypericum is a worldwide cultivated and known product. Kolster BV, in cooperation with Floribreed, started breeding Hypericum years ago for the Dutch market. Later on, Kolster BV expanded their Magical line with Hypericum that were also suited for warmer climates. Now our Magical Hypericums are planted worldwide, especially in Africa and South-America. Our most known and proven Hypericum variety at the moment is the Magical Red. Research in Japan, Israël and New-Zealand has shown that our Magical series is one of the most healthiest Hypericum in today's market. Every year Kolster BV introduces new Hypericum Magical varieties, always looking for improvement!
