Hydrangea EN

De hydrangea is an extremely popular flower species because of its exceptionally long flowering period and beautiful flower colors. There are several types of hydrangeas that flower in various periods and climates. These flowers are grown in the colors white, pink, green, red, purple, blue and bicolor. Because of their popularity, they are grown in greenhouses. Hydrangeas have been a fixed component of many gardens for years, because of the abundance of beautiful flowers. There are also quite suitable for balconies or indoors.

Types and advice

The plant was discovered in China in 1767. Since then, the plant has been crossed with other species many times. The plant has been around for centuries and a rich history of crossing has led to at least 100 varieties within the species. Hydrangeas have a rich family and are therefore available in different color variants and climate types. As mentioned earlier, the plants grow under controlled conditions. It is therefore essential to ask an expert for advice on the best type of plant suitable for your situation. Don't hesitate to ask for advice - eventually every type of hydrangea will shine on every lawn.

Proper care

Hydrangeas have a main flowering period from June to September, but this, of course, depends on the type of hydrangea. This plant is at its best in a clay-like and fertile soil, accompanied by sunlight or partial shade. The more sun this colorful asset receives, the more beautiful its colors will develop. Taking into account the right location is therefore a prerequisite for perfection. Hydrangeas will, however, also grow well on sandy soil, provided that they get enough water.

March, October and November are the best months for planting hydrangeas. The plant is quite hardy, but winter frost can cause a lot of damage to young buds, with few to no new flowers as a result. The best way to guarantee colorful new flowers in summer is to cover the plant in bubble film or a box during the winter months.

Pruning

The shrub can reach a height of 200 centimeters. This is a fairly large size that can be achieved when the plant is properly trimmed at the right times, so that development is stimulated. The pruning period can vary depending on type; Hydrangeas growing in warm climates have a pruning season in fall, whereas hydrangeas in cooler climates are pruned in spring.
